SAHIWAL: Ziaullah Khan, special judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court, sentenced Qamar Zaman, a member of the banned Daesh outfit, to 31 years of rigorous imprisonment.

Zaman was arrested at Baba Farid Hotel, Arifwala Road, by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Nov 22, 2023.

The FIR was filed under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and Section 4(5) of the Explosive Act, 1908, based on a complaint from Waseem Akhter of the CTD, Sahiwal.

Police recovered IED materials, detonators, electric wires, batteries, multiple SIM cards, mobile phones, an iron case and cash from him. The convict was sent to jail.

ROBBERY: Up to 12 gunmen disguised in police uniforms broke into a house in Kot Khadim Ali Shah on Sept 27 night.

They held the family hostage, kidnapped a widow’s son and fled with Rs280,000, a motorcycle and mobile phones.

Farid Town Police registered a kidnap case 11 days later.

Shazia Azam, widow of Muhammad Azim, lost her husband four months ago.

The armed men entered through the roof of neighbour Rana Nadeem’s house, held the family hostage, vandalised their home, and abducted her son, Hamza Azim.

Witnesses said the men misled neighbours by claiming they were conducting a police operation.
