SUKKUR: A man was killed and five were wounded when dacoits opened fire on a coach at Lanjo Laro (turning) to stop traffic and rob passengers on Indus Highway in Naparkot, Shikarpur district, on Thursday.

According to passengers and the bus crew, the dacoits fired at the vehicle in order to force it to stop. They then robbed the passengers of cash and valuable belongings and disappeared into nearby riverine area, they said.

They said that Ghulam Haider Bhalkani died and Azhar Ali, Farman Ali, Abdul Ghani and two others sustained gunshot wounds. The body was taken to Khanpur hospital and the wounded were taken to different hospitals, they said.
