KARACHI: Anti-corr­uption committee on Thursday directed the anti-corruption department to complete within one month the inquiries against officials involved in bribery and corrupt practices.

The second meeting of the committee, held with Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, also decided to file FIRs against three officers allegedly involved in corruption.

Anti-corruption Establis­hment officials informed the meeting about the details of citizens’ complaints against various government departments.

It was informed that the department had received complaints against 43 officials and maximum 10 complaints were received against the officials of Registration Department.

The meeting approved an open inquiry into 10 complaints against the registration officials.

Among the other departments that received complaints, four officials of the Sindh Buildings Control Authority and two officials of the KDA were found to be involved in corruption.

Other departments in which complaints of corruption were received included the police, KMC, Auqaf Department, Revenue Department, health and education.

The commissioner directed the anti-corruption department to expedite the action on the people’s complaints against such government officials.
