SAHIWAL: Police arrested 62 members of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) during a protest at Morwala Chowk and Farida Park on Friday.

The arrests were made under Section 144, which bans gatherings in the district for three days.

District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad confirmed the arrests as demonstrators were chanting slogans in support of Imran Khan and calling for his release.

Police arrested retired Maj Gulam Sarwar, PTI MPA Asad Khan Baloch, Rizwan Shah, Altaf Janjua, Muhammad Yar Damra, Imdad Hussain, Ali Sher, Saifullah, Muhammad Arshad, Naeem Akhtar, Ali Ijaz, Muhammad Munir, Imran, Muhammad Aleem, Muhammad Ijaz, Muhammad Shahzad, Usman, Main Sajid Nasir, Raza Ibrar, Azlan Zeeshan, Nazeer Ahmed and Abdul Hafeez, Ali Mateen.

PTI Central Punjab President Rai Hasan Nawaz claimed no protest occurred in Chichawatni Tehsil.

RAPE: In two incidents in village 85/6-R, two women were raped on Thursday night.

The first incident involved a faith healer who, while treating a woman, raped her and recorded the act, threatening to make the video public.

In the second incident, a barber’s daughter was lured to a house by a family acquaintance, where she was given drugs and subsequently gang-raped by him and three accomplices.

The police in Farid Town and Yousafwala have registered cases under relevant sections of the law, including charges of assault and rape.
