SUKKUR, April 5: A bench of the Sindh High Court on Tuesday exonerated the CCPO of Karachi, Niaz Siddiqui, from responsibility in payment of money to two judges of Shikarpur who had paid ransom for their release.
The bench, comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Zawar Hussain Jaffery, passed the order after a statement of the CCPO expressing ignorance about any meeting which had decided that police would pay the ransom amount to judges Abdul Wahab Abbasi and Farooq Channa.
CCPO Niaz Siddiqui and other police officials were present in the court. The case was adjourned till April 18.
NAZIM: District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah paid surprise visits to a number of schools and colleges in Taluka Rohri on Tuesday.
During his visit to the Government Elementary School he directed the school’s head master to make efforts to ensure attendance of children by improving liaison with parents.
In his visit to Government Primary Boys School Achhyoon Kubyoon, he took serious notice of dilapidated condition of classrooms and drainage system.
The nazim, then, went to Government Girls Degree College Sukkur and handed over keys of a bus to the principal.
The nazim also announced a grant of Rs0.5 million for the college to carry out renovation of auditorium hall and buy an electric cooler and multimedia for the college.
