ISLAMABAD: A bag containing cash and belongings of a citizen was stolen from her car parked in front of a hotel where delegates of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) are scheduled to stay on Saturday.

Fahama Mariam had parked her car in the parking area in front of the hotel. She returned after three hours and found her bag missing. The bag contained Rs50,000, a university card and other belongings.

It may be noted that additional police and paramilitary forces personnel have been deployed in the capital city as part of the security arrangements for the SCO summit.

In another incident, armed persons robbed an American national at F-10, about one-and-a-half kilometres from the Shalimar police station. The US national along with her relatives had gone to F-10 Markaz for shopping where the incident took place.

The police said two riders of a motorcycle snatched a purse from the woman shortly after she disembarked from a car. The purse contained $7,500, Rs80,000, her passport, iPhone 13, driving licences, bank cards, a gold chain and a pair of earrings.

Moreover, robbers looted Rs1,250,000 from a man at D-12, the police said. Syed Waqar Haider and his son withdrew the cash from a bank at F-10 Markaz and were returning home at Shah Allahdita in a car when two persons riding a motorcycle held them at gunpoint at D-12 Markaz and snatched the amount.

Two robbers on a bike also snatched Rs600,000 from Raja Asif in village Farash, the police said.

Meanwhile, a police official was accused of stealing gold ornaments from the house of her relative in D-13. Mohammad Arshad got a case registered against the official at the Gorla police station. He alleged that his cousin, an official of Islamabad police, stole nine tola gold ornaments form his house.
