Bank Alfalah supports cancer patients

Bank Alfala has partnered with the Cancer Foundation Hospital to provide life-saving treatment to women battling breast cancer, as per a press release. As part of this collaboration, Bank Alfalah and Roche Pakistan have contributed a total of Rs10.75 million towards medication expenses and free-of-cost treatment for five breast cancer patients, ensuring they receive comprehensive treatment.

Each year, there are approximately 90,000 new cases reported and 40,000 deaths due to the disease. To combat this challenge, Bank Alfalah has launched a series of Pinktober awareness sessions across major cities to educate women about early detection and prevention in collaboration with Shaukat Khanum, Chughtai Lab, and the Samina Alvi Foundation.

EFU Life wins ‘Brand Of The Year’

EFU Life Assurance Ltd has been given the ‘Brand of the Year Award 2023-2024’ for the Best Life Insurance Company by The Brands Foundation, as per a press release.

Mohammad Atif Khan, Regional Manager of EFU Life Assurance Ltd, received the award from the Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider.

The company is committed to building its brand and is actively working towards increasing the insurance penetration in Pakistan, which is in line with its vision of “no household should remain uninsured” by offering comprehensive and affordable financial planning solutions, the press release said.

Fatima Fertiliser wins FPCCI Award

Fatima Fertiliser was recognised as the Best Innovative Agricultural Products Company by the President of Pakistan at the 12th Excellence Awards of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, as per a press release.

The award was presented to the company’s CEO, Fawad Ahmed Mukhtar, in recognition of Fatima Fertiliser’s contributions to the agriculture industry and its solutions aimed at improving food security in the country and the socio-economic uplift of the farming community.

Its Sarsabz Pakistan app offers farmers a crop advisory and management tool and the company has also launched a dedicated app called Sarsabz Asaan to support its dealers.

Furthermore, “Sarsabz Kahani” is another web series initiative by Fatima Fertiliser that showcases inspiring stories of farmers dedicated to their land and heritage.

NBP partners with Huawei

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has signed a MoU with Huawei Technologies Pakistan (Pvt) to develop a National Cloud Data Centre, as per a press release. The MoU was formalised during the Huawei Connect 2024 Global Conference. This collaboration aims to strengthen NBP’s digital infrastructure by deploying cutting-edge cloud services in a Tier-3 certified data centre. Huawei will provide dedicated teams to ensure timely implementation, ongoing operations and maintenance support. Additionally, NBP representatives will receive hands-on training and documentation to ensure smooth project integration.

PDMA Marks National Resilience Day

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Sindh, in collaboration with HANDS Pakistan and WWF, observed National Resilience Day, as per a press release. The event, which brought together government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, and community representatives, emphasised the urgent need for collective action to combat the increasing threat of natural disasters in Sindh.

The event was marked by inspiring speeches and live demonstrations, making a compelling case for anticipatory action and community preparedness in the face of mounting climate risks.
