MIRPURKHAS: The Mirpurkhas police on Sunday started an inquiry into a ‘joint suicide case’ several days after residents of Kot Ghulam Mohammad raised questions over the claim about a couple’s act of killing themselves.

The bodies of a youth, Lekhraj Bheel, and a woman, Kavita Meghwar, were found hanging from the girder of a shop within their neighbourood and their families claimed that they had committed joint suicide. However, other people disbelieved the claim.

Mirpurkhas SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar ordered an inquiry into the matter and assigned it to the Digri DSP Mir Aftab Talpur.

He said that the inquiry would be conducted from different angle to see if it was a double murder case.

It was noted that some influential figures of Kot Ghulam Mohammed were found portraying the incident as a joint suicide case.

Youth attempts suicide

A youth was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in serious condition on Sunday and it was claimed that he tried to kill himself by consuming some pesticide.

His relatives claimed that he was extremely disturbed due to his strained relations with his wife. On Sunday, he consumed pesticide in his home located in Harsan Kolhi village, near 78 Mori, within the limits of of Dilber Maher police station.

Doctors were trying to save his life.
