LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Monday suspended a senior official from service for harassing a student.

A number of students launched a protest against the male workers in the university for harassing students. The students gathered outside the vice chancellor office and chanted slogans against the administration for not taking any measure over the harassment application.

The students were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against male employees of the university.

A student lodged a complaint against the official. The administration started an inquiry into the matter and suspended him from service.

The LCWU spokesperson said the official was suspended to ensure the merit of the inquiry. He said a committee was constituted to hold an inquiry into the harassment complaints. However, the students also planned a protest in the campus on Tuesday (today) and the university administration announced a local holiday due to construction work being carried out on the campus.
