SWABI: The district police on Monday claimed to have arrested 12 suspects during a search operation, using a drone for the fi rst time to locate suspected hideouts in the Swabi-Buner boundary areas a few days back.

A press statement issued by the district police offi ce said that a search and strike operation in the surrounding areas of Parmoli police station was conducted against the miscreants. It said that the search areas included Naranji, Qamar Dhand, Hajiabad and Pulsai and police force had raided on “suspicious hideouts.” Elite Force, BDS, CTD squad and lady constables participated in the search operation. The search and strike operations would continue against the anti-state elements to curb the criminal activities in the area, the statement added.

MAN KILLED: A man was allegedly killed by his brother on the complaint of his wife in Dhero Payan Gandaf area of Gadoon Amazai, said a police official.

He said accused Akhar Zaman killed his brother Lal Rehman in their house with an axe on the complaint of his wife over a petty domestic issue.

The official said that soon after the incident, the local police registered a case and managed to arrest the suspect.

FOUR HELD: The Yar Hussain police station arrested four people after armed clash between two rival groups on a piece of land.

The police said that members of the both groups led by Mohammad Ali, Salman Khan, Arif Khan and Salim Khan and several others, all residents of Tarkha Banda area, exchanged hot words over the land issue and started firing on each other.

The police also recovered one Kalashnikov, repeater and rifle with dozens of cartridges from the possession of arrested accused.
