RAWALPINDI: A man allegedly killed his female friend and later committed suicide in a house in Kartarpura on Monday night, police said.

The deceased woman, a mother of two, resided with her mother and brother in Bangash Colony and had been friends with the suspect.

The woman’s brother, a resident of Dhoke Dalal, lodged an FIR with Banni police, saying that on Monday night, he received a phone call during which he was informed that his sister had been murdered by a man in Kartarpura.

He immediately rushed to the place and found bodies of his sister and the man lying in a pool of blood in a room, with a pistol close to the bodies.

He further said the female residents of the house revealed that they were in their room when both the woman and the man entered the house and went into a room. They further said the suspect was carrying a gun and as soon as he entered the room, he first shot dead the woman and then killed himself.

Initially, when the police reached the spot, the family, which resided in the house, claimed that they did not know about the couple, however, when DSP Waris Khan Malik Rafaqat and SHO Raja Hussain examined the crime scene and also found the suspect’s motorcycle parked outside the house, the residents revealed to the police that both the deceased were residents of Bangash Colony in Pirwadhai.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect’s friend resided in the house and did business on Jamia Masjid Road.

According to the police, the real circumstances under which the couple were killed would be ascertained after the postmortem report was received and investigation was completed.

The bodies were shifted to the Holy Family Hospital for postmortem.
