POWER TROUBLES: The residents of Block-12, Federal B Area have been facing severe loadshedding that lasts over six hours every day. According to K-Electric (KE), there is a 35 per cent revenue col-lection shortfall in the area. Even if the claim is true, the KE still collects 65pc revenue. A slum is situated right behind Block-12 whose inhabitants are involved in electricity theft through an illegal network in connivance with KE’s own officials. The KE should take action against its corrupt officials and the inhabitants of that slum instead of punishing the residents of Block-12 as they pay their bills regularly.

DUE DATE: The National University of Modern Languages (Numl) in Islamabad is a dream institution for many. Students study really hard to get into the university. However, their excitement vanishes into thin air when they have to arrange their semester fee within a short period of time. The university uploads the fee challan just four days before the due date, and the students are charged a penalty if they fail to pay the dues within the timeframe. The university must observe a rational deadline rather than causing stress.

MOBILE CARD PRICE: Recently, I loaded Rs260 using a scratch card in my phone. The card had a fine sticker of Rs260 skilfully pasted on the original price of Rs240. The subsequent acknowledgement from the telecom operator was for Rs240, and not for Rs260. It is cheating, right?

SHARING FOOD: This is with refe-rence to the letter ‘A lot of food ... for thought’ (Aug 25). It is true that we waste a lot of food and do not share it with those who need it. Poverty is increasing at an alarming pace in Pakistan. Many people struggle to get proper meals, and often go to bed hungry. But we tend to ignore their hunger, suffering and the enviornmental impact of food waste. Sharing food can help fill bellies without causing any harm.
