SAHIWAL: Anti-Corruption Court Special Judge Asif Bashir on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of Rs113.2 million corruption case against Khawar Maneka, ex-husband of the PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and her son Musa Maneka till Oct 30.

Khawar Maneka and his son Musa were indited in a previous hearing held on Oct 2.

On Wednesday, Khawar Maneka appeared in the court, but his son was not present, while his lawyers submitted his medical certificate.

The court also called Okara excise inspector and Auqaf’ department manger for recording their statements on the next hearing.

The court had twice dismissed Maneka’s plea for discharging the case filed against him by ACE, Okara circle on a report submitted by the deputy commissioner on Aug 11, 2023.

He was accused of illegally converting graveyard land and a piece of state land into commercial property without paying the conversion fee, causing a loss of Rs113.2 million to the national exchequer.

Mr Maneka was arrested by ACE, Sahiwal circle, at Multan airport on his return from Dubai.

His two sons, who are also accused in the case, were earlier granted interim bail, which was later confirmed by the Lahore High Court. However, the interim bail was later cancelled.

Later, one of his sons, Ibrahim, succeeded in escaping to Spain, while his other son, Musa, is appearing in the case hearing.
