PESHAWAR: The Mardan police claimed to have killed two attackers in an encounter here on Wednesday, a senior police official said.

DSP Ashiq Hussain said that a party of Choori police station was on way for a raid when unknown motorcyclists started firing on the vehicle. The personnel retaliated to the fire, killing two attackers on the spot.

Mr Hussain said a police official and pedestrian also sustained injuries in the incident, adding that identity and motive of the attackers was yet to be known.

DSP Hussain further said that an investigation had begun to ascertain as to who were the attackers and where did they come from.
