MUZAFFARRGARH: A mentally deranged man allegedly shot his wife dead here on Thursday at Basti Chanjan Nazru Walli Hatti in Alipur tehsil.

The victim identified as Amna Bibi was a mother of four. Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene and local residents told the media that the suspect, Riaz, had been suffering from mental health issues.

Riaz managed his escape while the body was shifted for autopsy. Further investigation is underway.

STRANGLED: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly strangled on Thursday in the limits of Alipur police station.

According to police, Yasir was killed by his uncle and aunt. Station House Officer Malik Shakeel arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the report. Police took custody of the body and initiated an investigation.

A case has been registered against the boy’s uncle and aunt based on statements provided by the victim’s family. SHO Shakeel stated that the matter is being thoroughly investigated from all angles and the complete facts will be revealed after the probe.

SUICIDE: A young man died by suicide by jumping into Head Taunsa Barrage, Indus river, on Thursday.

Rescue officials and police reached the spot, but his body had not yet been recovered from the river.

Reports said Muhammad Ajmal, son of Saeed Ahmad, had reportedly argued with his family before going to the Taunsa Barrage. Divers and rescue teams were searching for his body, but due to darkness, the search was stopped and will resume on Friday.

Local residents claimed that Ajmal took his life due to poverty, unemployment and domestic disputes.

A CCTV footage captured the moment he jumped into the Indus river at the Taunsa Barrage.
