KOHAT: A joint protest meeting of doctors, paramedics and nursing associations condemned suspension of several employees of the Liaquat Memorial Hospital (LMH) and demanded their immediate reinstatement.

Addressing a protest meeting here on Saturday, the representatives of doctors and paramedics associations including Dr Ubaid Afridi and Rashid Bokhari criticised the parliamentarians for not making efforts to upgrade the medical facilities at the district’s hospitals to give relief to the poor masses of Kurram, Hangu, Orakzai, Karak, Bannu,, and Jand areas.

They said that stakeholders should sit together for the resolution of all issues concerning finances, human resources, and long-due promotions of hospitals’ staff. They said that the divisional hospital and LMH lacked vital medical equipment including MRI machine due to which the patients with head injuries had to be shifted to Peshawar hospitals.
