ISLAMABAD: A woman was robbed of gold ornaments by an armed man outside her house while cash and valuables were stolen from the house of an office assistant at the Prime Minister Office, police said on Saturday.

In the first incident, robbers looted nine tola gold ornaments from a woman in front of her house at Pakistan Town.

Anila Nawaz along with her daughter returned home at Pakistan Town after shopping at the nearby PWD market. As they were disembarking from their car, a man armed with a pistol intercepted the women and held them up at gunpoint.

The gunmen asked them to hand over cash and valuables to him, the police said. In response, Ms Nawaz removed her ornaments, including four bangles, two earrings, two rings weighing nine tolas worth Rs1.8 million and handed them over to the gunman.

In another incident, Syed Jamil, the office assistant at the PM Office, told police that he lived in a rented house at Banigala and had gone to his native town of Musakhel. He received a phone call from his landlord’s son about broken locks of the house and theft. The landlord’s son also informed the police about the incident.

On Friday, Jamil returned from his native town and found a set of gold ornaments, two gold tops and other items weighing seven tolas worth Rs700,000 and cash Rs260,000 stolen from the house.

Moreover, a dumper was stolen from outside a hotel near the Sangjani toll plaza, police said.

Jehangir Khan told police that he had gone to a hotel after parking the vehicle outside on Friday night. He said his helper Asadullah had slept inside the vehicle. Later, he found the dumper stolen and his helper abducted.

The police registered a case against unknown persons on the charge of kidnapping and theft.
