DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Agriculture University observed an anti-corruption week to raise awareness among students about corruption and corrupt practices.
According to the university’s spokesman, various academic, literary and creative activities, including English and Urdu speech contests, essay writing and painting competitions were featured in the event.
Addressing the event, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shakeebullah highlighted the importance of societal awareness and student involvement in the fight against corruption.
He emphasised that everyone had a role to play in eradicating corruption, especially the youth.
At the conclusion of the competitions, the vice chancellor distributed certificates and awards to students who exhibited outstanding performance.
THREE KILLED: Three people were killed and three others injured in separate incidents in the district.
In the first incident, a car collided with a tractor trolley near Khhutti Adda on Daraban road in the limits of Dera Town police station. As a result, a man travelling in car, namely Azizullah of Bannu, was killed on the spot, while three others including car driver Noor Ali, Asmatullah and Hazrat Ali were injured. The body and injured were shifted to the nearest hospital.
In the other incident, a man identified as Gulnawaz, resident of Gandi Ashiq, was killed in a road accident in the limits of Daraban police station.
In yet another incident, a 26-year-old man was shot dead near Garah Aslam in the limits of Kulachi police station.
According to police, Khadija Bibi of Kot Dolat reported to police that she along with her 26-year-old son named Mohammad Khalid and daughter-in-law Ramzana Bibi were going from Garah Aslam on a motorcycle when four accused namely Ehsanullah, Kamal, Allah Nawaz and Mumtaz Khan opened fire on them. As a result, her son received bullet injuries and died.
The police station concerned registered a case and started investigation.
