BATTAGRAM: The police on Monday arrested the superintendent of the Battagram sub-jail after a local court rejected his bail-before-arrest plea in an assault case.

A girl, who was confined to the sub-jail under section 406 of Pakistan Penal Code, had submitted a complaint to the police, accusing jail superintendent Shehryar Khan of assaulting her after calling her to his office.

Following registration of the FIR, the jail official had obtained a BBA from a local court, which was suspended by the court of additional district and sessions judge on Monday.

Battagram city police station SHO Imtiaz Shah said the police had registered a case against the accused under sections 376 and 506 of PPC. However, he said the accused secured a BBA.
