Underage marriage foiled

SARGODHA: The Kot Momin police arrested three people, including the would-be groom, and foiled an underage marriage.

A case was registered against the accused under the Child Marriage Restraint Act and other provisions.

The police were alerted that some people had planned the forced marriage of a 13-year-old girl in village Hujan, Kot Momin.

The would-be groom, Hassan Mujtabi, was from New Satellite Town in Sargodha city.

Kot Momin police booked Abid Hussain Kazmi and 10 others upon the complaint of sub-inspector Waqar Ahmed under Sections 353/186 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Sections 4/5/6 of the Child Marriage Restraint Act.

ACCIDENT: A driver was seriously injured when his vehicle loaded with chickens overturned due to high speed near Jhal Chakian near Sargodha city.

Muhammad Nisar was shifted to the hospital, while the vehicle was straightened and the road was reopened to traffic.

SAFE CITY: Work is set to begin on the safe city project in Sargodha.

The cameras to be installed under this project will assist in facial recognition and will be placed along the internal and external roads of the city.

Funds amounting to Rs2 billion are being released for the project to enhance public security. The selection of locations for camera installation is currently being finalised, after which the installation process will proceed regularly.

Consultation with the SHOs of all police stations is underway to ensure the project’s timely completion.
