QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Monday observed one-minute silence and later adopted a joint condolence resolution, paying tribute to the political struggle of late Patrick Saint, the PML-N lawmaker elected on a reserved seat.

The elderly lawmaker died at a private hospital in Karachi on Sunday. His body was flown from the port city on Monday morning to Quetta where a large number of people attended his funeral and burial at the Gora Qabristan.

During the provincial assembly session, which was presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, members observed one-minute silence in respect of the late lawmaker.

PML-N’s parliamentary leader and provincial minister Mir Saleem Armed Khosa later moved a joint condolence resolution on behalf of all members of the house.

The resolution expressed sorrow and grief over the demise of the late MPA Saint, who won the assembly seat reserved for minority communities after this year’s general elections.

It stated that his political commitments and struggle for the rights of minorities would always be remembered.

The resolution added that Mr Saint never compromised on principles as a representative of the Christian community.

After passage of the condolence resolution, Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai as per the tradition, did not take up any business and adjourned the session in respect of the late member.
