RAWALPINDI: Police have detained a suspect who had allegedly hit a van on Jhelum Road on Monday near Golf Club killing the driver and injuring another person.

Police said Fahad Mubeen Khan, 44, worked as an engineer at a software house in DHA Phase I. The fatal accident occurred due to his negligence and rash driving as a result of which he hit his car into the van travelling ahead of him while avoiding another vehicle near Golf Club. As a result, the van driver, Maqbool Khan, was killed and Nadeem Abbas injured.

The suspect was arrested by Morgah police and his car impounded.

Meanwhile, the National Highway and Motorway police foiled an attempt to smuggle 10kg of heroin from Peshawar.

According to a police spokesperson, on receiving information that an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of heroin was being made, police intercepted a double cabin vehicle near Tarnol and on searching, recovered 10kg of heroin.
