QUETTA: The Levies force killed two militants of a banned organisation and arrested another after a heavy exchange of fire in the Barshore area of Pishin district late on Tuesday evening.

Officials said a local shepherd alerted residents of Toba village in Barshore tehsil about the presence of armed individuals in the area.

A large group of villagers soon gathered and confronted the armed men, preventing them from entering the village.

The armed men opened fire on the villagers, who retaliated. Meanwhile, the Levies force, having received information about the incident, arrived at the scene and took positions.

A heavy gunfight ensued for an hour, resulting in the death of two armed men and the arrest of their accomplice.
