SAHIWAL: A maid was allegedly tortured by a landlord and his son at Chak 51/12-L of tehsil Chichawatni.

Asima Bibi, 35, a resident of Chak 54/12-L, had been working as a domestic worker at the house of Munir Jutt for the last five years for Rs100 daily.

According to her statement, Jutt and his son, Qammar, accused her of stealing cash and jewelry three days ago and interrogated her.

Last night, the suspects locked her in a room and assaulted her with bamboo sticks and rods, resulting in a broken leg and severe injuries to her other body parts.

Asima’s cries alerted the neighbours who rescued her. They contacted her family and her cousins, Akbar and Nawazish, transported her to their village. Later, Rescue 1122 was called that transferred her to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chichawatni.

District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad took notice of the incident and DSP Taseer Ahmed visited the scene. According to Okanwala Bangla Police Sub-Inspector Hyder Ali, a case was registered on the complaint of Asima’s brother-in-law Muhammad Boota and both suspects had been arrested.

In a statement to the media, Asima alleged that she had faced abuse from her landlord during her employment.

CTD: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two terror suspects affiliated with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Sarwar Chowk, Madhali Road.

The suspects were identified as Iftikhar Lodhi from Ishaq Pura, Multan, and Shamsuddin Koraja from Kot Luqman, Matiari, Sindh.

The CTD seized 2,180 grams of explosives, detonators, dry batteries and improvised explosive devices (IED) along with cash from the suspects. A case was filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the CTD Police Station.

SHOT: A policeman of the Dera Rahim Police was shot as a suspected drug dealer was freed by his accomplices at Chak 145/9-L, Malan Shah Chowk, Chichawatni.

Police registered a case against Usama and his companions Ihtasham, Moazam, Munib, Attaur Rehman, Aqsa Bibi, Naseem Akhter and three unidentified persons on the complaint of Inspector Muhammad Ismail.

Police conducted a raid at Malan Shah Chowk where Usama, a resident of Chak 145-L, was selling ice openly. Police arrested him.

Later, 10 people, including two women, attacked the police party and helped Usama escape. During a scuffle, a policeman was also shot by Usama.
