KARACHI: A son of an MNA of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan was killed and his friend injured in a traffic accident in Clifton on Wednesday, police said.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that a fast-moving car overturned inside the KPT underpass in Clifton, resulting in death of 25-year-old Shahzaib and injuries to Ilyas Manan.

The police said it appeared that the driver lost control over the vehicle that hit a footpath and overturned.

Shahzaib was son of MQM-P MNA Rana Ansar whose husband, journalist Ansar Naqvi, was also killed in the 2020 PIA plane crash.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and MQM-P chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed their deep grief over the death of Rana Ansar’s son.
