LAHORE: The Lahore Arts Council hosted an ‘Artist Talk’ featuring artist Farida Batool at Alhamra Adbi Bethak at Alhamra.
Ms Batool shared her artistic journey, experiences and vision, offering a glimpse into the labour-intensive process that defines her work.
Batool emphasised the power of art in promoting coexistence, tolerance, brotherhood and societal peace. She said art and literature are inseparable, highlighting how social issues have transformed the landscape of the city’s inner areas. High walls, billboards, and advertisements, she noted, have impacted the city’s aesthetic beauty.
In a conversation moderated by Asad Hayee, Ms Batool said that authentic storytelling is the foundation of true art. However, she said that economic and social divides have created barriers among people. She said resistance and resilience are critical aspects of an artist’s life, adding that her ongoing efforts have enabled her to tell diverse stories across various themes.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session, where audience members engaged enthusiastically, reflecting the success of the talk. The Alhamra Artist Talk series is set to continue, promising more inspiring conversations with notable artists in the future.
