RAWALPINDI: PML-N Senator Nasir Butt said that the government was committed to controlling dengue but it is the collective responsibility of the entire society to work for prevention of the disease.
He was speaking at dengue awareness walk at Saidpur Road arranged by Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa).
Wasa Managing Director Saleem Ashraf, officials, civil society representatives and others participated in the walk.
Dengue awareness banners, posters and placards were displayed while pamphlets distributed amongst shopkeepers and other people.
Mr Butt requested the residents to cooperate with the government departments and follow the instructions to control the dengue.
He also said in case a patient has dengue symptoms dengue test should be conducted from a hospital or private laboratory. The government has implemented a subsidised rate of Rs90 for dengue test and if the patient is diagnosed with dengue they immediately be shifted to hospital.
Wasa Managing Director Saleem Ashraf said Wasa is fully committed and working according to the directions of the government to control the dengue.
“For the better and effective dengue control and prevention activities with the coordination of District Health Authority and DC office, Wasa has extended its services to areas beyond its jurisdiction. It is also providing water through bouzers to the affected UCs, including Chak Jalal Din,” he said.
