SWABI: A local court acquitted three accused as prosecution failed to prove charges against them in a murder case involving a person from Adena village, tehsil Razaar, said counsel for the accused, during the court trials here on Thursday.

Additional Sessions Judge Iftikhar Elahi acquitted accused Ousaf Ali, Shah Fahad and Ishaq Khan. They were accused of killing Jihad Ali by their rivals two year ago .

While giving arguments, the defence lawyer said that the prosecution had completely failed to prove the case against the accused beyond reasonable doubt. Later, the court issued an order, acquitting all three accused.

Moreover, following a property dispute in Jahangira village, a man allegedly shot dead his nephew, said police.

Sohrab Khan’s wife reported that during a visit to her brother Abrar’s house, a scuffle between her son Mohammed Saad, 21, and her other brother Israr led to Israr opening fire on Saad, killing him on the spot. The police registered a case and started an investigation.

Also in the day, a four-year-old Habibullah was killed while his three-year-old sister Hafsa critically injured when they were hit by a tractor-trolley. The children were playing in the street and the driver failed to control the tractor due to speeding. An FIR has been registered against the driver, who escaped after the incident.

TRANSPORTERS’ PROTEST: Public transporters and drivers’ association vowed to block Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway at Swabi interchange on Friday (today) because the police officials did not allow them to use the CNG kit till Nov 1, said the transporters.

Public transporters’ association president Waqif Khan stated that all their peace efforts had failed, as meetings with motorway police officials, the DPO, and the NHA’s officials yielded no results. They were told to remove the CNG kits from their vehicles.
