QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti formally inaugurated the project of converting agricultural tube wells to solar energy in Pishin district on Thursday.

Under the programme, over 28000 registered tube wells will be solarised across the province in phases, fulfilling the promise made by the government to farmers of the province.

The federal government has provided Rs51 billion for the solarisation programme of all the tube well of Balochistan.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the chief minister said, “This moment is a source of pride and happiness for me that we are going to permanently resolve a longstanding problem related to electricity being faced by landowners of Balochistan.”

He said this project would bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector of the province and there would be a significant increase in the production of all related crops.

He said the provincial government has created a transparent mechanism to transfer money directly to bank accounts of all landlords to make the process transparent and this has completely eliminated the role of the middlemen.
