TOBA TEK SINGH: A beggar woman was allegedly gang-raped at a dairy farm near the Nishatabad overhead bridge in Faisalabad.
The complainant from the Niamat Town locality claimed in her FIR, registered on Friday by the Mansoorabad police, that while she was begging, she went to a dairy farm where a suspect offered her a job to clean his room on the upper storey of the farm’s office.
She said when she went up, the suspect followed her, locked the door from inside, and raped her. Two other persons also gang-raped her while a fourth accomplice guarded the room.
In her FIR, she said they gave her Rs300 and asked her not to tell anyone about the incident.
CPO Kamran Adil told reporters that the police had arrested two suspects and that raids were underway to apprehend the other two accomplices.
ARRESTED: A social media activist was arrested on Friday from Mian Channu, Khanewal, by a FIA Cybercrime Wing team for his involvement in spreading ‘misinformation’ on social media regarding the alleged ‘rape case of a student from a private college in Lahore.
An FIA official stated that Muhammad Younis had also instigated people against the state on the same issue. His mobile phone and X account data were recovered as evidence.
Meanwhile, a Faisalabad FIA composite circle team raided a locality on Arifwala Bypass Road in Sahiwal and arrested one Muhammad Adeel for operating an illegal currency exchange business.
A press release stated that the team recovered 80,838 Saudi riyals, 4,500 UAE dirhams, $400 and 200 euros from him.
It added that the accused was running an unlawful business from his jewellery shop.
In Jhang, at Union Council Khewa on Chiniot Road, Faisalabad’s Anti-Corruption Establishment staffers arrested UC Secretary Riasat Ali red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs15,000 from a citizen for issuing a death certificate for his deceased kin.
Marked currency notes were recovered from his custody.
CHILD DIES: A child died and two other children were critically injured after a wall of a house and cemented stairs caved in on them in Chak 69-RB, Bara Ghaseetpura, located on Sheikhupura Road in Faisalabad, on Friday evening.
According to Rescue 1122, labourers were dismantling the wall from one side when the entire wall, along with the adjacent stairs, fell on the children who were playing there.
Rescuers removed the heavy debris and rescued all.
The deceased was identified as Madeeha Zahid, 12, while the injured were Ayesha Basharat, 10, and Mudassar Khurram, 13. They were shifted to Khurrianwala Rural Health Centre.
ACCIDENT: A man died, and his brother was seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a donkey cart near Adda Murad Shah, located on Jhang Road in Gojra, on Friday evening.
Reports said Ghulam Raza and injured Muhammad Rahman, of Chak 418 JB, were returning home from Gojra when the accident occurred. They were injured and shifted to THQ Hospital, where doctors referred Ghulam Raza to Allied Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
ZAKIR NAIK: Special security arrangements were made in Faisalabad for the visit of religious scholar Dr Zakir Naik, who arrived on Friday.
He will address a gathering in the walled locality of Wapda City on Canal Road on Saturday (today), where more than 1,500 police officials have been deployed.
He and his son, Fark Zakir, offered Juma prayers in the police lines mosque, where his son recited the khutba. He laid a floral wreath on Yadgar-i-Shuhada and offered fateha.
CPO Kamran Adil, DC retired Capt Nadeem Nasir and police officers were also present.
