Against all odds

This refers to the story “Against all odds” by Mahnoor Sohail (YW, September 14). There’s no doubt that determination plays a crucial role in achieving one’s goals. Strong and clear intentions demonstrate the level of effort you are willing to invest.

Although various obstacles may arise, the key is to remain focused on your objectives. Don’t hesitate, even when others doubt you; this is the perfect opportunity to prove them wrong.

The crocodile’s dilemma

This is regarding the story “The crocodile’s dilemma” by Fatima Jafri, (YW, September 7). The story not only captured the warmth of family time, but also introduced a classic paradox through a captivating tale.

What I loved most about the story is how it subtly introduced young readers to the world of paradoxes, showing that sometimes, the solution lay in outsmarting the challenge itself.

The setting of a family gathering, with Daadi’s storytelling, was heart-warming and relatable, making the story enjoyable for both young and older readers.

The story “The crocodile’s dilemma” by Fatima Jafri brilliantly uses a simple schoolyard incident to introduce a complex idea — the crocodile’s dilemma — in a fun and engaging way. What stood out to me was how easily the lesson of quick thinking and problem-solving was woven into the narrative, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.

The story showed that sometimes intelligence isn’t just about what we know, but how we use our knowledge in tricky situations. It’s a great story for young readers, encouraging them to think critically and not be intimidated by challenges.

What if everyone could read minds?

This is regarding the article “What if everyone could read minds” by Aimen Zehra (YW, September 7). The article had a bit of humour as it explored the concept of telepathy, where people could communicate without technology, using only their brains.

However, as there are both good and bad sides to everything, the writer pointed out that telepathy could eliminate secrecy and invade privacy if telepathy was a normally achievable skill. While telepathy promotes understanding, it may also expose personal secrets individuals wish to keep hidden.
