KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter in North Nazimabad on Saturday, police sid.

Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan SHO Faizul Hasan said that two armed muggers riding a motorbike looted some citizens on the Sakhi Hasan flyover. As they were fleeing, some motorists alerted some Shaheen Force personnel who challenged the suspects.

In an ensuing exchange of gunfire, one suspect was gunned down while his accomplice managed to escape.

The police claimed to have recovered two pistols, two cell phones and a motorcycle.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The 27-year-old deceased could not be identified till late in the night.

Suspect shot at, wounded by citizen

A suspected robber was shot at and wounded by a citizen within the remit of the Shah Latif Town police station on Saturday, police said.

They said that the incident took place in Khaskheli Goth, where two robbers tried to snatch a citizen’s cell phone and valuables.

However, he pulled out his pistol and fired at the robbers.

The police said that one robber was arrested in the wounded condition. He was identified as Siddiq Khan.

He was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
