BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly chopped off the head of a toddler son of his cousin to take revenge from him for calling him mad at village Noraja Bhutta in district Lodhran.

Jalalpur police claimed to have arrested one Ahmed for the alleged murder of a three-year-old boy, son of Hafeez, who had gone missing from his house at Basti Mahawala near village Noraja Bhutta five days back.

The police sources told Dawn that Hafeez’ son, Abu Huraira (3), could not be traced despite a search and his father registered a complaint. Police took his cousin Ahmed in custody for interrogation on suspicion of his involvement in the murder. After investigation, police claimed that Ahmed had confessed to killing Abu Huraira and putting his headless body in a sack to bury it in the fields.

The suspect, in his confessional statement, said the child’s father had called him ‘mental’ and he killed his son to take revenge.

SHOT DEAD: A seminary student was shot dead under mysterious circumstances outside his seminary at Chak 245/EB in the limits of the Gagoo Police Station in tehsil Burewala of district Vehari.

Police were informed that a body was lying near the Al-Syed Housing Colony. Police collected the body and identified the deceased as Tahzeeb. The body was shifted to hospital for a post-mortem after registration of a murder case.

Police have launched an investigation.

ARRESTED: Basti Malook police in Lodhran claimed to have arrested three suspects on charge of murder of a couple four days ago.

The police said Muhammad Faisal had on Oct 18 had registered a case, saying unidentified motorcyclists had allegedly shot dead his brother Amir and sister-in-law Sajida near Pull 7-Faiz. Police claimed to have arrested three killers, Ghulam Yaseen, Naveed and Younus.

During investigation, Younus told police that the couple had done Nikah of their daughter with him on phone some time back but avoided her marriage that’s why he killed them.
