SAHIWAL: Seven prayer leaders were booked for making hate speech and violations of the Punjab Sound System Regulation Act-2015 by Harrapa and Noor Shah police on Friday.

Reports said police raided different mosques but the prayer leaders managed to escape.

Those booked include Maulvi Rasheed from Village 46/GD, Noor Shah, Qari Muhammad Zubair, Abadi Azizaabad, Qarin Azhar Iqbal, Village 55/GD, Qari Abu Bakar from Noor Shah main vicinity. Along with that Harappa police booked Hafiz Muhammad Salman, Hafiz Muhammad Arsalan and Hafiz Muhammad Arshad.

District Police Officer Faisal Shahzad said seven prayer leaders were booked but none was arrested. He said police are raiding different locations to arrest them.

ROBBERY: A National Database and Registration Authority employee at the Kameer Office was shot at and robbed of Rs70,000 and his mobile phone by two unidentified dacoits near Village 113/9-L on Arifwala Road, Sahiwal tehsil, on Friday night.

Rescue 1122 shifted Inam Arif to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital in a critical condition. The Dera Rahim police have registered a case against two unidentified attackers.

Reports said Inam Arif was returning home from work at the Kameer Office when he was intercepted by two motorcyclists near Village 77/5-L.

The dacoits snatched Rs70,000 and his mobile phone. When Inam protested, one of the attackers shot him before fleeing the scene.

A case has been filed against the suspects

under sections 394 and 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Inam’s friend Allah Yar Advocate.
