RAWALPINDI: The Civil Defence Department on Saturday sealed 20 fuel stations for operating without getting non-objection certificates from the district administration.

Under the law, fuel stations have to get NOC from the district administration and adopt all safety measures to avoid any untoward situation like fire.

Civil Defence Officer Talib Hussain told Dawn that these petrol stations were operating without any permission and had failed to adopt fire safety measures. He said under the law the filling stations had to develop green areas in and around the outlets and adopt fire safety measures.

He said that the sealed filling stations were located in Kattarian, Chakri Road, Westridge, Soan Camp, Rawal Chowk, Morgah, Kallar Road, Pindora, Pirwadhai, Adiala Road and adjoining areas.

He said teams had been directed to check prices and measuring tools of all the filling stations in the district. He said a survey of other parts of the district was being conducted and action would be taken against such petrol filling stations.
