ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been doing inquiry into allotment of official residences of Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco).

According to a letter, sent to the IescoChief Executive Officer by FIA and available with Dawn, the agency has been conducting inquiry on the complaint of Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah regarding misuse of official power by junior staff member of Iesco using portfolio of Assistant Director Admin whereas, the official is of lower grade having no such powers to sign as Assistant Director.

“That the Iesco staff in writ petition no. 4106/2015 title Ms. Nighat Zaman (AD HR Iesco) vs Secretary Ministry of Water and Power and others was different, relevant paras there from reproduced in complaint of the complainant dated 27-01-2024. Keeping in view of the above position stance of the Iesco is required to finalise the matter,” the letter sent to Iesco stated.

According to the application, filed by Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah and available with Dawn, Iesco management introduced new accommodation policy on the basis of pick and choose, (favouritism and nepotism) without adopting proper procedure in making such amendments.

“That in response to above, the undersigned submitted lot of applications for provision of certified copy of approved accommodation policy but remained fruitless till to date. That the undersigned had no other option except to invoke Right to Information Act-2017 for said purpose, therefore, the undersign approached the ‘Information Commissioner Islamabad’ for obtain the required record from Iesco, the matter of provision of approved accommodation policy filed before Information Commission on 02.10.2024. That on 26.08.2024, another application sent to your good office through registered post and the same was received in your office,” it stated.

“Keeping in view it is therefore requested that a formal inquiry committee consist of senior officers may be constituted to probe the matter for fixing the responsibility upon persons at fault, it stated.
