Drug addict kills brother, niece

GUJRAT: A drug addict allegedly shot his brother and niece dead on Sunday after being admonished for using narcotics at Badoki Gosiyan village in Gujranwala Cantonment police precincts.

As per police, the suspect, Sharafat, a drug addict was scolded by his brother Shafqat at their home. This infuriated Sharafa, who opened fire, leaving his brother and niece Saba dead on the spot. The suspect then fled the scene.

On being informed of the incident, police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsy. A team of Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), collected evidence from the crime scene.

Police were yet to register a case.

Gujranwala operation SSP has appointed Civil Lines SP to conduct an inquiry into the case and arrest the suspect.

Meanwhile, Dhaley police have registered a double-murder case against five nominated suspects for allegedly killing a man and his nephew in Shaheenabad locality of Gujranwala.

The suspects had allegedly gunned down their relativeSadiq and his nephew Shafique over a property dispute on Saturday.

The case was registered under sections 302, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the report of Abdul Hameed, the father of deceased Shafique.

BODY FOUND: The body of a four-year-old boy, who was thrown into a canal by a man a couple of days back, has been retrieved from the Upper Chenab Canal in Ferozwala police precincts in Gujranwala on Sunday.

The suspect, Ali Hassan, had been persuading a divorced woman of his area to marry him but she refused his proposal.

This enraged the suspect, Ali Hasan, who allegedly threw the woman’s minor son Ali Zamin into the canal.

A Rescue 1122 team, during a search operation, retrieved the boy’s body from the canal near Chianwali power plant.

Police shifted the body to Gujranwala Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Police have already arrested the suspect, registering a kidnapping case against him.

However, after recovery of the body, the police said section 302 of the PPC would be added to the case FIR.
