Disappointing scene

THE downfall of the country’s education system is seriously disappointing. Examination papers keep getting leaked, cheating by candidates in board exami-nations remains rampant, and there are ‘ghost’ schools and ‘ghost’ teachers aplenty. All this will lead us to a point where the majority of the Pakistani population will be ‘literate illiterate’.

It is also horrible to know that during board examinations, most centres remain without electricity due to loadshedding. This is irritating. Education and health are two major pillars if we really want Pakistan to progress. The government recently declared an ‘education emergency’ in the country, but nothing has happened since the declaration. It will be in the greater interest of the government to take on board educationists from across Pakistan, and start improving the education sector.
