OKARA: A man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Monday after he was attacked by alleged kidnappers on Oct 25.

According to the first information report (FIR), Shafqat’s family lived in Thattah Shah Anwar near the Okara-Faisalabad Road. They were harvesting paddy near Bangla Gogera on Oct 25 when Abbas, Qutab, Asad, Ali Sher, Boody, his son Nadeem, Shahid, and Sobhi attempted to kidnap a girl named Neelam.

When her maternal uncle Sarwar and others intervened, the suspects beat Sarwar with clubs, inflicting severe injuries that left him unconscious from heavy bleeding.

The group escaped after Neelam was rescued from them.

The police transported Sarwar to the Gogera Rural Health Centre from where he was referred to Sahiwal DHQ Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Gogera police have since added section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) to the already registered FIR, which includes sections 324, 148, and 149 of the PPC.

HELD: An alleged drug peddler was arrested with 10.7 kilogrammes of charas on Phulan Wali Road in Hujra Shah Muqeem.

According to the first information report, a patrol team from the Hujra police station was present on Phulan Wali Hujra Road when they noticed a pedestrian near Pul Ghara. Upon seeing the police, the individual attempted to evade them but was quickly apprehended.

Upon searching his small sack, the police discovered 10.7kg of charas. The suspect, identified as Ahmad Yar alias Ahmi from Kharl Kalan locality, was arrested.
