ATTOCK, April 7: A goods train derailed near Jand railway station on Friday, suspending rail traffic between Attock-Kundian section for about six hours, railway sources told Dawn.

Multan-bound Bilal express was delayed for four hours.

After the incident, railway authorities dispatched a relief train to the site to restore traffic, the sources added.

This is the second derailment incident at the section. Earlier a goods train derailed between Jhab and Ucheri railway stations on March 22.

When contacted, Deputy Controller Rail Traffic, Divisional Headquarters, Peshawar, Syed Wajid Ali Shah, said that the derailment had occurred at 11am. However, rail traffic was restored after five hours.

In response to a query about frequent derailments at the section, he said it was because of the poor condition of rail track.
