TOBA TEK SINGH: Seven members of a family were critically burnt after a fire broke out in a house as a result of explosion of a battery of an electric motorcycle which was being charged through a plug in an electric board on Monday evening near Haq Bahu Chowk in Sultanpura on Sargodha Road, Faisalabad.

Rescue 1122 personnel extinguished the fire.

All seven identified as Shahzad Mukhtar (40), Anwar Bibi (50), Aliya Bibi (32), Asma Bibi (35), Saifullah (1), 10-month-old Mohid and six-month-old Fatima, were shifted to burn unit of Allied hospital.

DEATH SENTENCE: Faisalabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Ms. Sajeeda Akhtar on Monday handed down death sentence to four police officers and fined each Rs1 million in a double murder case in Millat Town.

According to the prosecution, head constable Muhammad Asghar and constables Falak Sher, Waqas Masih and Faisalur Rehman shot Rana Muhammad Usman and Rana Muhammad Arsalan from the Muslim Town area on Aug 8, 2018, near Bagh Wali Puli.

The two victims were returning home on motorcycles after eating shawarma late at night when they were killed without any reason.

In a separate case on Monday, another Faisalabad additional district and sessions judge, Imtiaz Ahmad Gondal, sentenced Muhammad Asif Gujjar of Chak 68 GB, Jaranwala, to death and imposed a fine of Rs0.5 million. Gujjar was convicted of murdering a young man, Abdullah, over a financial dispute on June 29, 2023.

ACCIDENT: A man died and his daughter was critically injured after their motorcycle was struck by a bus on Monday near Mureedwala Adda on the Faisalabad-Multan Road.

According to Rescue 1122, Muhammad Yaqub, 50, from Rajana Chak 253 GB Khotran Wala, was traveling with his daughter Maryam Bibi, 18, to Samundri. His daughter was taken to Mureedwala Rural Health Centre, where doctors referred her to Toba DHQ Hospital.

The accident occurred due to a sudden turn taken by the deceased motorcyclist.

In a separate incident near Jallo Mor in Tandlianwala, a motorcycle and a rickshaw collided on Monday.

Allah Ditta, 52, of Chak 409 GB, died instantly, while two rickshaw passengers, Irfan, 20, and his mother, Shazia Bibi, 50, were critically injured and were transported to Tandlianwala THQ Hospital.
