ISLAMABAD: Army finished with most medals as the 17th Korean Ambassador Cadet and Senior National Taekwondo Championship concluded here at the Liaquat Gymnasium of the Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.

After four days of action, Army secured the top position in the senior division, followed by PAF with silver and HEC and KP sharing bronze medals. Punjab took the top spot in the junior division, followed by KP and Islamabad.

In other prominent results on Tuesday, Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) Ariba and Manisha Ali stole the spotlight, winning gold medals in the female -73kg and +73kg events, respectively.

Ariba edged Memoona (KP) to claim the top spot while Manisha outperformed Wapda’s Nida Fatima to clinch the title.

Ikhtsham ul Haq (Army) won gold in the male -87kg event and Hamza Saeed (Army) secured the top spot in the male +87kg.

Monday’s action saw Army athletes dominate the proceedings. Abu Bakar (Army) clinched the male -54kg title, beating Shahzaib (PAF) and M. Zahid Ali (Wapda). Haroon Khan (Army) secured gold in the male -58kg event, outperforming M. Tayyab (HEC) and Nisar Ahmed (PAF).

Noman Khan (Army) emerged victorious in the male -63kg, ahead of Fareed Ahmed (PAF) and Shameer (HEC). M. Arbaz Khan (Army) won the male -68kg title, surpassing Sarmad Munir (Punjab) and Abdul Rafay (HEC).

Zoya Sabir (Army) took home the gold in the -62kg, beating Bibi Fazila (HEC) and Sania (Gilgit-Baltistan). Sarah Rah­man (Army) claimed the -67kg honours, ahead of Maliha (HEC) and Uroosa (Gilgit-Baltistan).
