KARACHI: As many as 31 candidates, including nine aspiring for the office of union committee (UC) chairman in the local government by-elections scheduled to be held on Nov 14, have been returned unopposed.
The Election Commission of Pakistan said that the LG by-polls were scheduled to be held on 77 vacant seats in 26 districts of Sindh including six of Karachi division.
However, a total of 31 candidates who filed their candidatures on different seats returned unopposed, it added.
The candidates include nine aspirant of UC chairman, six vice-chairmen and eight members each of district council and general wards.
The ECP said that no nomination papers were filed on four vacant seats.
Now, the by-elections will be held on 42 vacant seats in Sindh as per schedule on Nov 14.
