KARACHI: The body of a retired employee of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) was found in a DHA apartment on Tuesday, police said.
Clifton SHO Azam Rajpar told Dawn that 65-year-old Ghani Rehman was found shot dead in his rented flat on the second floor of a building located in Tauheed Commercial area in Phase V. He appeared to have been killed around three days ago.
The victim was a former employee of the KMC’s sports section. He was a resident of nearby Shah Rasool Colony but was living in that flat on rent.
The officer said the police had got significant clues and the murder might be an outcome of some personal enmity.
The police had registered a murder case against an unknown suspect(s) on the complaint of victim’s son Zubair Khan.
The complainant said that he is a police constable and resident of Shah Rasool Colony. He said his father came home on Oct 25 at night and informed his wife (victim’s daughter-in-law) that someone had given him tranquilisers. In the morning, his father left the home, he said.
The complainant said he was posted for security duty of polio workers on Saturday and later on visited Boat Basin police where he registered a ‘report,’ stating that his father had been missing for the last two days. He made phone contact on the cell phone of his father and subsequently the location was traced in Tauheed Commercial.
The son along with a police party arrived at the flat whose door was locked and a bad smell was coming from it. They opened the door and found the body of Ghani Rehman lying inside.
