RESISTANCE MOVEMENT: Israel has been targeting Hamas and Hezbollah leaders to weaken the larger resistance movement. Recently, it has assassinated several, including Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar. However, despite the kill-ings, the movement has remained resilient. Israel has been unable to obliterate Hamas because its vadres remain motivated by ideological foundations.

APPRECIATION FOR TEACHERS: The office of the Director of Peshawar Model Schools recently acknowledged the services rendered by teachers. Appreciation letters, merit certificates and gold coins were presented to the teachers on producing outstanding results. This thoughtful gesture not only boosted the teachers’ morale, but also motivated them to work even harder. The primary reason why government schools have not been producing remarkable results is the lack of appreciation for the teachers.

TERROR IN BALOCHISTAN: This is with reference to the editorial ‘Ghastly attack’ (Oct 12). Pakistan has not yet recovered from the recent terrorist attack near the airport, which killed two Chinese. Earlier, the militants used to target security officials and public properties, but now they have started attacking civilians. These people have been brainwashed, and, therefore, they should be handled with due care. Some soft measures can still do the trick.

NASEERABAD UNIVERSITY: In this era of modern education, students in Naseerabad division remain deprived of even the most basic educational facilities. There is only one university in the area, and it lacks basic facilities. About six years after its establishment, the university does not have even a library. The students of Naseerabad must be provided all the educational facilities so they may play their role in the country’s development.
