MUZAFFARGARH: The city police have arrested four suspects involved in the killing of journalist Mehr Ishfaq Sial, who was murdered on May 23.

The police investigation has reportedly uncovered the involvement of a senior revenue department official, Tehsildar Mehr Shamoon, who allegedly orchestrated the murder after Sial exposed his corrupt practices in the media.

According to police sources, Tehsildar Shamoon allegedly hired hitmen, providing them with a vehicle and an alibi by travelling to Lahore on the same day to distance himself from the crime.

Suspects Nasir Sial, Chand Sial and Ramzan sweeper reportedly confessed that they killed the journalist while acting on behalf of the tehsildar.

The police said that Tehsildar Shamoon obtained pre-arrest bail until Nov 6, while the four suspects are in police custody and will be presented in court on Nov 1.
