TAXILA: A narcotics court in Pindigheb on Wednesday sentenced a drug peddler to 16-year imprisonment, besides imposing a fine of Rs150,000.

The accused was arrested by Pindigheb police in September last year and recovered heroin and hashish from his possession.

A case was registered against him under Section 9-C of Control of Narcotics Substance act 1997.

The judge after hearing the arguments of from both sides announced the verdict as the convict was found guilty of selling drugs.

If the convict fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo jail for another six months.

Meanwhile, Fatehjang Police on Wednesday arrested a woman drug peddler and recovered hashish from her possession. The police spokesman said that Farzana Bibi was caught peddling 1.85 kilogram hashish.

A case was registered against the drug peddler under section 9-C of Control of Narcotics Substance Act 1997.
