LAHORE: International hockey player and Pakistan vice-captain Abu Bakar went through a successful knee surgery in Lahore on Thursday, according to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
Abu Bakar suffered a knee injury during a group match against India in the last Asian Champions Trophy, and had been appealing to the government of Pakistan and the PHF for his medical treatment.
Though special advisor to Prime Minister Rana Mashood and PHF president Tariq Bugti had promised for Abu Bakar’s treatment, no steps were taken as the player had alleged that both the government and the PHF were responsible for further complications to the injury.
