ISLAMABAD: Alam Afzal shot a one-over 73 to take a three-shot lead after the first round of the senior amateurs category at the Chief of Naval Staff Amateur Golf Champ­ionship, which teed off here at Margalla Greens Golf Club on Thursday.

Shuaibuddin is Alam’s closest rival while Ameen Raja and Mohammad Ahmed Khan are a further stroke adrift at 77, one ahead of Abid Mehmood.

Abdullah Khan leads the junior boys category after a one-under 71 for a two-shot lead over Moha­mmad Abbas. Mahad Khan, Abdullah Nasir Raja and Hasan Shahid are tied at 76.

Humna Amjad and Ami Qin are tied atop the ladies’ leaderboard after both returned cards of 79, three shots clear of Zebunnisa.
