OKARA: The Haveli Lakkha police on Thursday registered a case against a man for allegedly subjecting his physically challenged daughter-in-law to sexual assault at Chak Mughal.
According to the first information report, the 24-year-old woman’s father, a resident of Pakpattan, visited her at her in-laws’ house. During the visit, his daughter began to weep and informed him that her father-in-law ‘R’ had raped her the previous night and had repeatedly assaulted her despite her protests.
The woman’s father filed a case registered with Haveli Lakkha police station against the suspect under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
KILNS: In the ongoing drive against smoke-emitting vehicles, brick kilns and industrial units, District Environment Officer Muhammad Jahan Tab said that the department’s field team has registered 16 cases against brick kiln owners and one industrial unit.
Fines totaling Rs0.5 million were imposed, and four brick kiln units were sealed.
Similarly, a field team from the district agriculture department, led by Chaudhry Muhammad Ijaz, identified 58 farmers who had set paddy stubble on fire, contributing to smog pollution across the district. Cases were filed, and fines totaling Rs1m were imposed on the violators.
